P.J. Reilly Contracting Co., Inc. provides Balanced Lot Grading
and House Line Excavation for residential developers such as Orleans Home Builders, Toll Brothers, and K. Hovnanian. Our focus is to design house
line pads (with the house design and elevation plans) to minimize
the need to haul excess soil after basement digs and backfilling.
We have had tremendous success partnering with the builder and site
contractor to balance lots and take the liability off the builder.
We have developed a program for a balanced lot project. Many of
our clients utilize this approach to guarantee lot soils balancing
and remove the liability of these costs from their budgets. Our
approach puts the burden of designing the lot pads on us. Any excess
or shortfall of soils is our responsibility. We include a sign-off
system between ourselves and the site work contractor to document
the responsibility. This approach requires us to fully understand
the client’s products, options and site plans. We have had
tremendous success partnering with our clients and their site contractors
in this program.

Our site work management is a team approach. Estimators complete
fully detailed quantity take-offs and submit detailed proposals.
Our field operations personnel are involved from the negotiation
stage. The office completes material/vendor buy-outs and sets up
the job, but, the foreman and superintendent run the project from
an operations stand point. We believe this is the best way to allow
the field to schedule, communicate and efficiently run the job seamlessly.
The estimator/project manager stays involved on a weekly basis for
scheduling and job cost meetings and gets involved immediately for
contractural or change order issues. A seasoned job foreman knows
the project better than anyone else and we want to empower them
to have access to resources or answers without a cumbersome system.
We especially pride ourselves in our relations with design engineers,
township engineers and representatives and geotechnical engineers.
Our reputation as a quality, thorough site contractor is in no small
part due to our experience with these folks.

The success of our specialty or “niche” work over
the years is due to 3 factors; we like small challenging jobs, we
can usually mobilize quickly, and the varied experiences of our
people allows us to be confident in almost all we do. Much of our
specialty work requires us to think “out of the box”
for a solution or overcome a challenging situation without engineered
drawings. We communicate well with engineers and are able to assist
or take the lead for solutions. We have been able to “bridge”
disputes between builders and township authorities and create a
way to repair the problem to an infrastructure issue. Due to unknown
underground conditions, many projects cannot have a fixed price
associated with the work. We have the experience and commitment
to provide not-to-exceed budgets and then can document the work
in detail.

Our paving operation launched in 2004. Our capabilities range from the smallest of driveways, roads,
large parking lots and PennDOT inspected work.
Our crew is very experienced and pride themselves in a complete quality and finished product.
We added a second larger paver in 2006 and put it to work immediately.

EQUIPMENT/TRUCK REPAIR AND FABRICATION:
Our talented mechanics are providing their services to outside vendors and contractors. We can complete everything from extensive hydraulic or engine repairs to specialty fabrication work.
